For many years the name Sheffield meant steel, all over the world. Stainless steel was invented here. Kelham Island Museum shows various aspects of Sheffield's steel heritage. Many of them striking and eye-opening. If I ever would feel like complaining about work fatigue or workplace conditions it is enough to remember that were I a grinder, a popular job here, I'd have a life expectancy of thirty years...
