Sunset - first one in 3 weeks

1/5o s F/3.5 ISO 100 EF-S 17-55 at 50mm, handheld
23.01.2010 4pm -12*C

This was the first sunset in the last 3 weeks (foggy and overcast all the time, a macrophotography paradise ;) ), so I thought it deserved a post. The window is in my sons' school... looks like it needs some paint.

Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island) - an evening walk

1/2 s F/5 ISO 400 EF-S 17-55 at 55mm, tripod mounted, 19:24

For a long time I wanted to take pictures in bad weather, well snow is better than rain, and the Kata raincover is still on my wishlist. But a plastic bag will still do: choose a bag big enough to be able to operate the zoom of your chosen lens, put the camera inside, attach the lens shade, cut the bag around lens opening, do the same for the eyepiece and voila, as the French say, you're ready to take the shower. Almost.
As I couldn't find a transparent bag, the rear LCD showed something of a colour negative - the bag was orange...
Please click on the images to see the dancing snowflakes and reflections/shadows in the river.
I found that the best shutter speed for the snowflakes was around 1/2 sec. while for the river, the shadows from the balustrade only showed at longest automatic exposure - 30 sec.
